The best way to find out your finger size is by visiting a jeweller and having your finger professionally sized. If this isn’t possible one way to estimate the ring size is to get another ring that fits and have that measured. If that is also not possible this guide will give you an estimate size.

To measure your finger, you will need:

• A ruler/ tape measure
• String
• A pen

Our fingers change shape throughout the day due to temperature change, so it is best to take the measurement at the end of the day and when the hands are warm.

Wrap the string around the base of the finger where the ring would sit making sure it is comfortable and not too tight. Make sure the string will just fit over the knuckle. Mark the string where the end meets forming a circle. With a ruler/ tape measure, measure the length of the string and compare it to the measurements below.

Things to bear in mind

• Warm fingers are larger than cold fingers so take the measurement when the hands are warm.
• If the knuckle is considerably larger than the base of the finger, a second measurement should be taken of the knuckle and a size in-between should be chosen.
• A thicker band will fit tighter and may require a larger size.
• The dominant hand is usually larger. If using another ring as an estimate an adjustment may be needed.
